Two lacrosse sticks of different designs in the Museum of Natural History in 1959.

The formations and materials used to make lacrosse sticks changed throughout the sport's history. This is one example of an early lacrosse stick used by Native Americans.

Pictured in the second figure are three different types of lacrosse sticks. Two resemble an earlier version of modern lacrosse sticks; one resembles a field hockey stick. A ball is also included for scale.
