This chamber pot is from the days before indoor plumbing. Most homes had an outhouse, but if nature called during the dark of night a chamber pot saved one from having to venture outside.
The chamber pot was often tucked under a bed for easy access. After you finished using the chamber pot, you tucked it back under the bed to deal with in the morning!
