Circle K Club Scrapbook

The Circle K Club at Salisbury State College (now Salisbury University) was chartered in 1961 and was sponsored by the local Kiwanis Club. The service organization hosted events on campus and offered leadership opportunities for students. This three-ring, leather covered scrapbook contains photographs, newspaper clippings, and other ephemera related to the on-campus programs and after-school activities of the Circle K Club from 1979 to 1981. The documents demonstrate the different events that members of the Circle K Club participated in, including fall festivals, dances, camps, and volunteering. Pages for the 1980-1981 school year were intentionally burnt on its edges by the creators.

Class of 1930 Scrapbook

The Maryland State Normal School at Salisbury opened in September 1925 as a two-year college to train elementary teachers on the state’s Eastern Shore. The fifth class to graduate was in 1930. This loose scrapbook contains newspaper clippings, photographs, and ephemera related to the State Normal School (now Salisbury University) graduating class of 1930. The scrapbook was collected by Virginia Dryden and presented to the school in 1980 as a celebration of the class’ 50th anniversary. There are approximately 30 photographs of students and faculty going about their daily activities, programs and tickets for various social events, newspaper clippings and Holly Leaf issues, theatre playbills, and materials from the 50th anniversary of the 1930 graduating class.

Committee for International Friendly Visits Scrapbook

The three earliest scrapbooks focus on the Spinning Wheel Club and the Future Homemakers of America which seem to go hand in hand. The later scrapbooks focus on Crisfield High School sports and the daily events of the high school. These scrapbooks include mainly newspaper clippings but also includes event programs and flyers.

Embroiders' Guild of America: Chesapeake Chapter Collection

This collection consists of various documents from 1978 to 2011 pertaining to the Embroiders' Guild of America's Chesapeake Chapter. Included are photographs of embroidery pieces and various events such as annual retreat. In addition, the collection contains the chapter's periodic newsletter, "The Chesapeake Sampler," that discussed past events, a blue banner that has squares sewn on from 1981 and was put together in 1986 and a scrapbook called, "The Swans," dated 1989 that was donated by the Mid-Wessex Branch Embroiders' Guild from Salisbury, England for the Chesapeake Chapter's 10th Anniversary Exhibition. Also included are the chapter's administrative files such as their meeting minutes, bylaws, budgets, newspaper articles, memos and letters. Included are correspondence and printed materials from the national organization.
