Abstract

Evelyn Hamilton White scrapbook collection documents national, international and local events in Salisbury, Maryland. The materials date from 1933-1945 with the bulk of the material dating from the period of World War II, 1943-1945. International and national events including the death of Franklin Roosevelt, the abdication of Edward VIII and World War II are documented through newspaper clippings. Local events including weddings, anniversaries, death announcements and the hurricane of 1933 in Ocean City are also documented though newspaper clippings.

Biographical History

Evelyn Hamilton White (1912-2013) was born in Limestone, Maine and was the eldest of seven children of George P. Hamilton and Elsie Thompson Hamilton. She attended Abbott Academy in Andover, Massachusetts and graduated from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. She married Robert B. White and had two children, George Hamilton White and Deborah White Poole.
