20th Century Magazine Collection

The 20th Century Magazine Collection contains twelve magazines including: Look, The Saturday Evening Post, and The Spur ranging from 1911 to 1962. In addition there are four pages, presumably from Vogue. Cover stories include topics such as women's suffrage, Easter, World War I, color photos of the Eastern Shore and Vladimir Lenin, and fox hunting.

The A. Nayland Page papers document Dr. Page's time as the Academic Dean for Salisbury State College. While the documents range from 1965 to 1979, Dr. Page was only Academic Dean from 1976 to 1979. Materials include academic council and committee meeting notes, budget information, material on the College Level Entrance Program, commencement information, correspondence, and Deans meeting notes. As the Academic Dean, Dr. Page corresponded with many students about the transference of college credits, excusing course requirements, and handling credit deficiencies.
A.K. Talbot papers

Dr. Alfred K. Talbot was born in New York City on September 1, 1916. He attended the Hampton Institute and later the college of William and Mary. Prior to his tenure at Salisbury University, Talbot taught as a teacher, was named Principal of Carver Elementary School, and became the Assistant Principal of Burton Heights School. From 1962 to 1964 he served as the President of the Virginia Federation of Parents and Teachers and the Virginia Teachers Association. He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Virginia Teachers Association and in 1968 became Supervisor of Elementary Schools of Williamsburg Public Schools. In 1970, he joined the Education and Sociology departments at Salisbury University and was the University's first full time African American professor. Talbot died on July 20, 2004 after 30 years of service to the university. Throughout his life, Talbot was involved with the Civil Rights Movement, the NAACP, and the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. Talbot's collection include correspondence, reports, and other printed material from his tenure at Salisbury University, his involvement with the Civil Rights Movement, and his activities within Virginia's education system.

This collection contains documents pertaining to the life of Louise Brittingham Taylor. The documents in this collection follow her from grade school through her retirement. Included are such things as grade school report cards, information on Salisbury Normal School, programs on her commencement ceremony from both high school and Salisbury Normal School. There are several documents, forms, and booklets on her career as a teacher and copies of her teaching certificate and diploma from both high school and Salisbury State Normal School. Included are letters congratulating her on her retirement, and booklets and programs concerning her 50th and 60th Salisbury State University reunion. There are photographs of her College Graduation as well as several from her class reunions.

The manual was used and journal written by Annie McConnell in 1872 when she was studying under the direction of Professor Rankin at the Female Medical College of Pennsylvania (now Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania).

This collection contains a DVD recording of a April 18, 2009 lecture given by Dr. Elizabeth Ragan at the Nabb Research Center entitled "Over the Sea to Somerset: 17th Century Trade in a Neglected Corner of the Chesapeake." The presentation focuses on finding Colonial Era artifacts in old Tobacco Plantations, and how, because of funding and distance, this type of Archaeological Research isn't done on the Eastern Shore. The presentation then proceeds to detail her findings and their implications on our knowledge of the Colonial Era Eastern Shore. In addition, there are a poster advertising the lecture and several video tapes of the lecture.
