The Theodore Dize Papers document the shipping business of the bugeye James G. Blaine, captained by Theodore and Westley Dize, between 1894 and 1923. An additional account from 1995 records the names of watermen who shipped out of Baltimore at the turn of the century to dredge oysters. Dize shipped out of Crisfield, Smith Island, and Baltimore, dredging oysters and transporting merchandise. The shipping business is documented through agreements, worker records, and extensive receipts. Also included are printed ephemera including book advertisements.
