Abstract

Truckers and Savings Bank Ledger, 1906-1914, Salisbury, Maryland, documents local business and personal transactions for checking and savings accounts, including debits and credits. The ledger features a whos-who of Eastern Shore businesses in the early 20th century, such as Wimbrow Brothers, Adkins Brothers, Petey Manufacturing, and Bailey Brothers, as well as notable persons including Arthur W. Perdue, Sallie M. Brittingham, A.G. Shockley, and Guy Hearn.

Administrative History

Tuckers and Savings Bank was established September 1906, and located at East Main and Baptist Streets, Salisbury, Maryland, and served the broad population of local businesses and individuals. In 1934, the bank became a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and operated as a commercial bank. By 1978, Farmers and Truckers merged with The Equitable Trust Company and operated as part of the larger institution, rendering the location in Salisbury inactive. Ultimately, the bank would merge and be acquired six more times in the 1990s and be absorbed by Bank of America.
