Included are a compilation of weekly recipes in the Salisbury Daily Times newspaper, gathered from July 1980 to June 1981, entitled A Year at...Peyton's Place, Plate Offerings: A Cookbook from Old Trinity Church (Church Creek, MD) and the Cookbook of Mary Ann Hillman Shivers (ca. 1870s).

The E. Sheldon Jones collection documents the career of the Salisbury Advertiser editor, E. Sheldon Jones, and his father, I. Ernest Jones, who was the Mayor of Salisbury from 1916 to 1920. The collection includes newspaper clippings and papers related to Jones' mayoral term, financial information of both Jones', photographs dating between the 1880s and 1940s, a State of Maryland court docket from James E. Cathell dating 1880-1882, handwritten and written recipes, and internal memos from the Red Star Motor Coach Company between 1942 and 1946.

Farm Management, Sussex Co., Del., Ledgers

Two ledgers that document the care and management of animals as well as chicken egg distribution, 1881-1926; Seaford, Sussex County, Delaware. This coincides with notations from 1893 of men who wanted to purchase cows and hogs. The author of the ledgers also wrote recipes for hog food and how to rid cockroaches, in addition to other farm activities. Written later, 1881-1950, local deaths of friends, family members and acquaintances are also noted, this includes the history of the Gardner family.

For her paper, student Nancy Baker interviewed her relatives who were housewives to collect recipes of apple butter, cobblers and different cakes. Covered are also quilting and crocheting.

In a series of interviews of local Eastern Shore residents in 1978, Salisbury University students and teachers collected folk life material. For this collection, Mary Anne Ross interviewed some prospective participants for the Maryland Folklife Festival of 1978. Her informants included a quilt maker, a blacksmith, a beaten biscuit maker and a pottery maker. This collection includes an essay on the field study, a few pictures, a tape of the interviews, and other documents.
