This scrapbook consists of items collected by Etrope Joseph Yacks of Bay City, Michigan between 1918 and 1919. Yacks, who was a Private in the American Expeditionary Forces during the First World War, took photographs and collected postcards, as well as other ephemera, while he served overseas in France. Photographs depict soldiers in bombed areas, in addition to scenery around various cities including Paris. Ephemera includes tickets, programs, and newspaper clippings for various theatrical performances, restaurants, and other events.

Serrell Family Collection

The Serrell Family Collection documents the personal and family history of Andrew Serrell (1923-2018) including the Serrell family, Demetre family, Odier family, and other ancestors. Personal items relating to Andrew Serrell's career in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1974 include pilot logs, photographs, naval orders, and other service-related documents. Serrell's paternal family, including the puppeteer Edith Serrell, lived primarily in Dobbs Ferry, New York and are documented through photographs, correspondence, and other documents. Serrell's maternal family--the Demetre and Odier families--frequently went back and forth between France, New Orleans, and New York City. This branch of the family is heavily documented through family histories, correspondence, photographs, drawings, and business papers. There are also three framed portrait paintings and several artifacts.

The records of the Town and Country Garden Club document the Wicomico County, Maryland ladies social club through their administrative files and activities from 1953 – 2014 with the bulk of the material dating from 1996 – 2006. Administratively, the organization held regular meetings as reflected in the records which are comprised of the organization's by-laws, membership records, financial records and meeting minutes. Socially, the garden club was very active hosting annual flower shows and Christmas Tea’s, these activities are documented via photographs, scrapbooks, and planning records.

Travel Scrapbook of Mary Rusch

This travel scrapbook was created by Mary Rusch of Michigan in 1928. Rusch traveled from Ypsilanti, Michigan to Washington, D.C., then up to New York City and the Niagara Falls with a group of women, likely from the Michigan State Normal School (now Eastern Michigan University). Along the way, she collected numerous ephemera and took dozens of photographs. Additionally, she wrote a diary about her travels which includes an entry about her first time seeing a "talkie."

Victor Riedel Collection

The Victor Riedel collection consists of a diary, memorandums, photographs, artifacts, and ephemera that document the Second World War experience of Marine Corps corporal Victor Riedel from 1944 to 1946. Riedel's diary, which also partially served as a scrapbook, includes entries from 1944 to 1945, but entries before November 1945 were recorded from a previous diary that was destroyed in a typhoon. He wrote about bombings, kamikaze attacks, and field clean up after planes crashed. Riedel served in the Pacific theater and was assigned to Okinawa, Japan, as well as other Japanese islands. Artifacts include patches, one medal, two Marine Corps pins, and a battlefield relic that is likely a piece of a Japanese plane. Also included are military orders (one regarding treatment of locals), a letter from another soldier, a poem from women, airplane identification aids, and a sketch of leaving Okinawa in February 1946.

The evolution of school buildings in Wicomico County is documented through visual materials that include photographs and printed histories and newspaper clippings. Activities in various schools such as sporting events, musical performances, and plays are documented through photographs, programs, scrapbooks and newspaper clippings. Note: some of the folders are restricted due to sensitive content, permission from the archivist to view this files is required.
