Just north of Cambridge and Easton Maryland, the town of Wye Mills was once home to the famous Orrell’s Maryland Beaten Biscuits Company, founded in 1935 and closed in 2013. Led by Ruth Orrell of the Orrell family, the company was famous for traditionally making and selling beaten biscuits.

Former Maryland Senator Charles “Mac” Mathias championed for beaten biscuits and requested Ruth's son, Dick Orrell, prepare an offical history. Mathias read the account into a Congressional record in 1973.
