Anti-Russian German Propaganda Leaflets

Art Institute and Gallery Collection

Originally established in 1953 as the Salisbury Art League, the mission of the Art Institute and Gallery is to advance the visual arts in the mid-Delmarva region through exhibitions and art education to the general public. In 1984, this organization was created through a merger of the City Hall Museum board and the Wicomico Arts League. This collection contains 34 albums and scrapbooks of various shows, exhibits and newspaper PR produced by Eve Sweitlik of the Wicomico Arts League (now the Art Institute and Gallery).

Arthur Leonard collection

Assorted Sheet Music

Baltimore Sun Magazine

The Baltimore Sun Magazine was produced and included in the Sunday edition of The Baltimore Sun until 1996; the magazine featured a pictorial section on various topics and location of the state of Maryland. Specifically, photographs or photo-stories were featured in each edition. The March 22, 1981 edition, features the photographs of Peter M. Tilghman. Tilghman, a Crisfield native, depicts the town in various scopes including local businesses such as oyster shucking, dry goods at Horsey Brothers, a shirt factory, and an early Harley Davidson motorcycle shop. Smith Island, the people and the landscape are featured in the April 24, 1983 edition of the magazine. The corresponding description, authored by Tom Horton, recollects his encounters with the island residents from the late 1970s including Waterman, Jennings Evans, and Reverand Henry Zollinhoffer.

Beulah and Clara LesCallette Postcard collection

The postcards were exchanged between Miss Beulah and Miss Clara LesCallette and seemingly other family members from varying parts of the country during the early 1900's. Many of the postcards are either postmarked from or sent to Pocomoke City and Crisfield, Maryland. This collection contains a series of 757 postcards spanning the years of 1905 through 1921, the bulk of them being written and sent between 1907 and 1912. The illustrations on the postcards represent holidays, places, people, religious iconology and humorous situations. The majority have been written on, stamped, sent and postmarked, while few are in their original blank state. The collection also includes a postcard collector's scrapbook, a Christmas Card and a handwritten poem.
