Guy Peck collection

The Guy Peck collection documents Peck’s devotion to history through the documents he acquired and includes those on education and business practices. Records date from 1795-1979 with the bulk of the material dating from 1915-1940. Specifically, records document the education and life of Conrad or Conard Williams, an African American man from Eden, Maryland who studied at the Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute, and the secretarial training of Elva Chandler who attended Goldey College in Wilmington, Delaware. Monetary transactions are also documented through a wide variety of receipts, goods purchased and accounting practices from different Eastern Shore families including Hitch and Ruark. Military research on the 1943 Algiers Campaign and correspondence from an enlistee to his mother during the Korean War is also included.
Hammett's Planisphere Celestial Map

This ornate celestial map was created as an educational supply by the J.L. Hammett Company of Boston, Massachusetts and depicts the "principal stars visible for every hour in the year." Directions for use and finding the principal constellations are printed on the verso.
Harrington and Mace records

This collection contains the law firm's incoming correspondence from 1893 through 1908. It is unsure if this collection represents all correspondence or a sampling from those years. Also in the years from 1907-1908 there is incoming correspondence from a girl, Frances Creighton, who is attending the Pierce Business School. Within her correspondence is evidence that Mr. Emerson C. Harrington was funding her education, however, it is not noted what her family relationship to him was. Included are her school grades, boarding house receipts, letters asking for funds and shorthand schoolwork. Creighton also corresponded with a woman addressed as an Aunt who acted as a connection between herself and Mr. Harrington.

The Henrietta Jones Moore collection documents several historical aspects of Eastern Shore history including Salisbury and Cambridge, Maryland and Cape Charles, Virginia. Documenting materials include family history, religion, education, and economic perspectives through essays, ephemera, newspaper clippings, obituaries and photographs from 1860-1998 with the bulk of the material dating from 1930-1948.
Henry Shipley Parker Papers

The Henry Shipley Parker Papers contains photographs, newspapers, plaques, awards, certificates and political information ranging from the 1920s to 2012. The photographs include family pictures of Parker's father, wife and other family members. There are also a number of photographs that are autographed including one signed by Senator John Kerry. In the collection, there are also photographs of Parker’s high school reunion and a Wicomico High Class of 1939 class photo. Also included are photographs of the Adkins family, who owned the company where Henry Parker and his father worked for an extended period of time. The newspapers include articles on the Class of 1939’s reunion, accomplishments of both Henry Parker and his father, and articles on projects in Wicomico County. There are many plaques in this collection illustrating the number of accomplishments Henry Parker made in his lifetime. Included are Fire Department plaques for years of dedication to helping different departments and a Baseball Hall of Membership Plaque. Also plaques from Wicomico County for serving the county and for the many things he helped accomplish; such as the Athletic Complex, the Corrections Facility, the Detention Center, help to the Sheriff’s Department and many more. Included is an Apple from the Teacher Award, the Marilyn J. Praisner Public Service award, the Jack R. Nichols Humanitarian award, the G. Maxwell Armor award and many certificates. This collection includes Henry S. Parker’s political information, including voting records, as well as government Political information, including the 1957 Presidential Inauguration Program. Interesting things included are a US district court case involving the Black population in Wicomico county felt they were suffering from a history of official discrimination and a soldiers World War I Bible.

Holland Island Collection

The Holland's Island Collection consists of a detailed description on the history of Holland Island. The creator is Irving M. Parks, Sr. who named his story the "Vanishing Island". Parks discusses the history of Holland Island and its residents, and how over time the island started to disappear and was deserted. Included is a personal narrative, newspaper clippings about life on the island, information about boats used, education, and brief personal genealogy of residents.
Holloway Photograph Collection

Dr. William James Holloway was born in Salisbury on January 29, 1873. The Holloway Photograph Collection depicts the formative years of the Maryland State Normal School from 1925-1928, Holloway’s family life and activities in the 1920s, and Wicomico County Public Schools in the 1910s. In 1908, Holloway became the Wicomico County Superintendent of Schools, during which he also earned his Master’s Degree in Education from Columbia University. By 1917, he was named the State Supervisor of Rural Schools and then the Assistant State Superintendent of Schools in 1922. Holloway’s proposal for a normal school in Salisbury came to fruition in September 1925; he was named superintendent and principal of the school. Holloway resigned on October 5, 1934 and passed away on Saturday March 14, 1936.

Also included are letters to and from the registrar and other administration copied for the president.
