Harold Vassar Papers

The Harold Vassar Papers document the life and military service of a First World War pilot and architect from Ballston Spa, New York from 1917 to 1947. After graduating from Columbia University in 1913 and working as an architect in New York City, Vassar enlisted and graduated from the School of Military Aeronautics at Cornell University in 1917. In 1918 he was promoted to Lieutenant, graduated from the Army School of the Line in France, and became a certified Army Corps instructor.

Harry B. Young Letters

The Harry B. Young letters were written by a United States Marine to his family in Pleasantville, Iowa between 1942 to 1945. The letters detail Young's time in the marines. The Harry O. Korff, Jr. papers document his military service in the United States Air Corps from 1943-1995 with the bulk of the materials dating to 1943-1950. Korff, a Salisbury, Maryland native and dental surgeon, was enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in Italy. His papers reflect his World War II service through records from various training schools he attended throughout the United States and a scrapbook showcasing his training in Texas and Florida as well as his active duty service in Italy.

Hazel Beauchamp collection

The collection also contains the uniform of Hazel Beauchamp and the information for her training programs as a nurse in the Army. Also included is a removeable drive with images of Hazel as a nurse and her family members.

Japanese Military Scenes Lithographs

These 20 lithograph prints from 1942 depict Second World War military scenes from the Japanese perspective. Annotations were made on the verso of several prints, which explain the scene from the Japanese perspective. Scenes depicted include: the naval battle at Java with Imperial Japanese Naval Forces attacking the U.S.-Dutch combined fleet, Japanese warplanes over Singapore, Borneo Campaign and Tarakan Island, attack on Tarakan Island, Japanese destroyers firing at enemy cruisers, night operations at the Battle of Savo Island, capture of American prisoners on Wake Island, naval battle at Java Sea, Japanese submarine torpedo attack against the U.S. carrier Lexington West of Hawaii, Japanese fleet's arrival at Singapore, naval battle off Bali Island, and operations at the Singapore Naval port shortly after its capture.

Japanese Military Scenes Lithographs (2)

These 20 lithograph prints were created by the Empire of Japan during the Second World War to help improve morale among Japanese citizens. They depict various military victories in the Pacific including air, naval, and island battles with the Dutch, Americans, and British. The exhibition of prints was issued by the Imperial Japanese Army Arts Association and each print has a title printed in Japanese on a protective paper.
