The Diary of Myra Poole chronicles a year in the life of the young woman likely from New Bedford, Massachusetts. The author, however, spent most of 1905 in Herington, Kansas. While Poole was in Kansas, at least one tornado struck in May in nearby Marquette. In one of her entries, Poole revealed that her mother, father, and brother are dead; she spent much of the year living with a family with the surname Dayton. The fore-edges of the diary have the name "M.M. Lawton" inscribed in them and on the title page there is a note that states "read July 19, 1990 M.C." The transcribed diary is attached.

This "Greetings from the Happy South" fold-out postcard contains 16 views of African-Americans with "Southern Products, Water Melons, Razor Backs and Pickaninnies." The descriptive matter, written by Joseph Kaufmann, explained the intent of the postcard: "To the average Northern tourist the old time southern darky is an interesting subject for observation."

The Hodgman Family Journals document the lives of Hellena (Hellen) Hauserman and Kendrick Hodgman from 1875 to 1932 in sixteen journals. Two of the journals are written by Hellen in 1875 and 1876 prior to her marriage to Kendrick and describe her daily activities on her family's farm in Parma, Ohio. Thirteen of the journals are written by Kendrick, from 1891 and 1919-1932, about his daily activities in Ohio. The last journal's author is unknown but chronicles the Hodgman family's history from 1875 to 1932.

Ledger of Dr. Clark Hancock

This ledger was kept by Clark Hancock, a doctor from Smith Center, Kansas between 1937 and 1942, and also includes enclosed letters that date to 1947. Hancock recorded the names of townspeople from the farming community who paid for treatment, usually with goods such as melons, apples, potatoes, onions, turkey, milk, eggs, lettuce, chickens, or by chopping wood and ironing. The letters included are between Clark and an itinerant evangelist preacher, Henry Clarence Hall.
