The Hodgman Family Journals document the lives of Hellena (Hellen) Hauserman and Kendrick Hodgman from 1875 to 1932 in sixteen journals. Two of the journals are written by Hellen in 1875 and 1876 prior to her marriage to Kendrick and describe her daily activities on her family's farm in Parma, Ohio. Thirteen of the journals are written by Kendrick, from 1891 and 1919-1932, about his daily activities in Ohio. The last journal's author is unknown but chronicles the Hodgman family's history from 1875 to 1932.

The Latin and South American Photograph Collection documents life in various Latin and South American countries including the Bahamas, Brazil, the Caribbean, Dominican Republic, Fiji, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica's Dunn River Falls Local Church, Martinique, Mexico, Ecuador, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Puerto Rico, The St. Lucia Caribbean, and Tonga. It also includes images documenting the Pacific Conference of Churches, WACC. The photographs are not well labeled and depict scenes from events as well as candid shots of city and rural life.

This journal was written by Lavinia Murray of New York City for her parents and was a retrospect of the year 1833. Murray, who was a student at Van Doren's Institute, mentioned seeing President Andrew Jackson, Black Hawk and his sons, visiting the House of Refuge, and a student's death from small pox. The journal concludes with resolutions for 1834 that include "Not to cry," "to be neat," and "govern my temper." It has been transcribed and digitized.

The Lieutenant Allan Morton Thomas Jr. Letters consists of letters and personal correspondence from Lieutenant Allan Morton Thomas Jr., USNR. to his wife Georgia E. Thomas from 1942 to 1945. Thomas Jr. was a Lieutenant on LCI(L) - 225 in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Thomas Jr. wrote about his life aboard the ship in the censored locations of the Pacific Theater. Several letters have missing pages and some lines are censored by the U.S. Navy. At the time, Thomas Jr.’s wife Georgia E. Thomas and daughter Margaret Anne, lived primarily in Bethesda, Maryland, and Minneapolis, Minnesota. The transcription of the letters is attached. The digital reproductions of the letters include telegrams, pictures, and newspaper clippings.

This journal contains the minutes of the May Day Conference that held meetings in Baltimore, Maryland in 1919. The meetings consisted of delegates from various workers groups in Baltimore, including the Russian, Jewish, Italian and other branches of the Socialist Party, The Karl Marx Club, Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), Ladies Garment Workers, Socialist Labor Party, and the Lituanian and Polish branches of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America. The delegates gathered to plan a picnic for May Day, with a march and mass meeting preceding the evening, with profits being donated to the Workers Defense Union in New York City. One of the contested issues in the meeting was whether the Conference should obtain the requisite permit from city authorities. Two of the recording secretaries, E.V. Wallis and T.S. Wetter, were prominent in local radical politics.

Papers of the House of Corrections of the City of Chicago document the lives and thoughts of inmates at the Chicago/Cook County, Illinois House of Corrections in 1923. These 17 to 21 year old boys wrote confessions, letters about their daily life, memories of their home lives, and completed various assignments that their teacher, Mrs. Hoerr, tasked to them. Many of the assignments, letters, and other writings are revealing of the daily thoughts and activities of the incarcerated peoples, as well as their jobs or lives prior to the House of Corrections as "hobos," "tramps," or "bums."

This collection of 91 glass plate negatives document life around the turn of the 20th century. Most of the photographs were taken from areas around Philadelphia and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with some possibly from New York or New Jersey. Some of the identified photographs include images of the Strawberry Mansion Fountain in Fairmont Park, Philadelphia, the Harrisburg Capitol building, Benjamin West's painting of William Penn's 1701 Treaty with the Delaware Indians, the lion statue outside the Garden Zoological Society or Philadelphia Zoo, the Indian statue on Council Rock at Wissahickon Gorge, the William McKinley Monument in Niagara Square, Buffalo, New York, a Great Northern Railway train engine, the statue of Matthias Baldwin, the Washington Monument in Eakins Oval in Philadelphia, an ironclad warship and the Monument to the 90th Pennsylvania Infantry at Gettysburg. The rest of the photographs are of families, homes, towns, railroads, or ships and shipyards.
