The ledger of shipping merchant, Robert Peacock documents the merchant voyages he invested in as well as the goods he traded and sold at his store in Oxford, Maryland, 1766-1778. Peacock had a pension for luxury wares including silver pieces, silk stockings, fabrics, wine, and rum; as noted in the ledger on multiple occasions, Peacock dealt in the trade of human cargo. On page 19, Peacock signs his own name, beneath the credit balance. At the back of the ledger are 29 pages of handwritten notations on the life of George Washington, from John Marshall's, "The Life of George Washington".

Also included in the ledger are agricultural articles, and a written list of English kings, ending with Queen Victoria I.

Also noted throughout the ledger is the race of an individual if they are of African American descent.

The Martin and Wright Store Ledger documents the financial transactions of the Martinsburg, (West) Virginia general store between 1835 and 1837. At the time, Berkeley County was part of the state of Virginia and many of the homes held slaves. Domestic and imported items purchased from or bartered with the store included daily goods like eggs, coffee, sundries, as well as other items such as coffins, tobacco, and cholera syrup.
