    In the Name of God Amen I Sarah Tingley of Sussex County in the State of Delaware being of sound disposing mind & memory & calling to mind the uncertainty of this life, do ordain this writing to be my last Will and Testament in manner of form following to wit, ------------------- Imprimis. I do forever emancipate & set free from me & my Heirs all my Negroes of every description & all their future increase ------ Item. I give to Comfort Cooper wife of Isaac Cooper the Picture of the right Reverend Father in God Lord Bishop of London------------------ Item. I give and bequeath all my Estate of every kind & all my wearing apparell to be equally divided between my Negroes, David, Silvia, Henny & Phillip and Negro Jane, now belonging to Jonathan Hudson in [Maswadox?] in Worcester County so as each to have one Equal Fifth part to them and their Heirs forever, In Testimony whereof I have herewith set my hand and Seal affixed this Sixteenth day of November in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and two, delivering this only to be my last Will & Testament and hereby revoking all former Wills by me heretofore made. Wst F. best Black silk gound [gown] & Short Sattin Cloan, Rebecca Brown my muff and tippet one Sattin Cloke two pair of Stockings a Gaus shall my locket of sett of Chania to her Daughter to Mary Brown N. Wst F two laced borded Caps, to Elisabeth Brown George In one Striped Sattin Cote, one lite Chinty gound [gown], two pair thread Stockings, to Margaret Rose my Morocco Shoes and a [morben?] hankirk, to my Sister Poke black woman my long Cloke ------ Witness present John White, James Wittbank / Sally Tingley (x her mark) Sussex County Memorandum Jan.y 12th 1807.     "Bereft of his mother at a tender age & bound out into virtual slavery he was denied both the tenderness of a mother and comforts of even a crude home life, spending his early years in such abject want that, in his own words, he often vied with the dogs for the crumbs that fell from the table of his master." Learned to read through bits of paper he found & a friend who assisted him. Took correspondence courses in Greek at Boston School of Theology earning degree of Doctor of Divinity by Bennet College & Doctor of Philosophy by Brandywine School. Joined Delaware Annual Conference in 1885 at John Wesley Church, Salisbury, Md. Charges: South Wilmington, Del; Cape May, N. J.; Odessa, Del; Pocomoke Circuit, Md; Fairmount, Md; Ezion, Wilmington, Del.; Presiding Elder of Wilmington District. In 1902 was appointed to pastorate of Church on Bainbridge Street that bears his name.

Turner & Mrs. Maggie Williams. 2nd spouse: Mrs. Jennie Cotton, widow of W. F. Cotton of the Delaware Conference. She survives him.
