Abstract of Record Indenture between Levin D. Collier & James James Bounds sitting as judges of first District Court of Maryland on the first part and George R. Collier on the other part have bound out Margaret Purnell, free girl of color 12 yo on 22 October 1841, daughter of Alsey Purnell, free woman of colour, who was sold by virtue of an order of said court issued by them on 24 September 1841 in pursuance of the third section of an Act of General Assembly of Maryland of 1841. Not to be sold outside of state. Margaret to serve as apprentice to George R. Collier to learn business of domestic or house work of a family until 18 yo; at expiration of term to receive $10 or the value thereof in clothing.
