Abstract

The Alice Bahr Publications Collection documents the articles written by Dr. Alice Bahr and her involvement with Salisbury State University, now Salisbury University, and the University System of Maryland from 1983 to 2013. Materials in the collection include articles written by Dr. Bahr, academic journals, a faculty handbook, a campus directory, invitations to the Holiday Open House for State Employees, and correspondence, articles, and memos from and about the University System of Maryland.

Biographical History

Alice Harrison Bahr was the Dean of Libraries & Instructional Resources at Salisbury University until 2011. She wrote several monographs and contributed articles to the Encyclopedia of Library and Information Service, College & Research Libraries, Government Publications Review, Library & Archival Security, and Technical Services Quarterly.  Bahr was the founding editor of College and Undergraduate Libraries and worked as editor from 1994 to 1998.  Before coming to Salisbury University, Dr. Bahr was Director of the Library at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama.  She earned her MLS in 1972 from Drexel University, Pennsylvania, an M.A. in 1975, and a Ph.D. in 1980 in English Literature from Leigh University, Pennsylvania.

The Alice Bahr Publications Collection documents the articles written by Dr. Alice Bahr and her involvement with Salisbury State University, now Salisbury University, and the University System of Maryland from 1983 to 2013.  Materials in the collection include articles written by Dr. Bahr, academic journals, a faculty handbook, a campus directory, invitations to the Holiday Open House for State Employees, and correspondence, articles, and memos from and about the University System of Maryland.

Arrangement Statement

This collection is separated into three series: (Series 1) Articles, (Series 2) Journals, and (Series 3) Salisbury University and University Systems of Maryland. Series 1 is arranged chronologically, Series 2 is arranged alphabetically then chronologically, and Series 3 is arranged alphabetically.
