Abstract

James R. Thrash (b. 1932) was Salisbury University’s library director from 1969 to 1999. He obtained a B.A. from Ohio State University and a MSLA from Western Reserve University. The records consist of the personal and administrative papers of James R. Thrash. Most of the material relates to higher functions in academia such as annual reviews, reports, minutes, policy and procedure manuals. Several folders focus on the expansion of Blackwell Library in the 1970s and some contain research papers written by Thrash while taking English courses at Salisbury State College from 1978 to 1980.

Biographical History

James R. Thrash (born 1932) was Salisbury University’s library director from 1969 to 1999. He obtained a B.A. from Ohio State University and a MSLA from Western Reserve University.

Scope and Content Note

The records consist of the personal and administrative papers of James R. Thrash, Salisbury University’s library director from 1966 to 1999. Most of the material relates to higher functions in academia such as annual reviews, reports, minutes, policy and procedure manuals. Several folders focus on the expansion of Blackwell Library in the 1970s. Several folders contain research papers written by Thrash while taking English courses at Salisbury State College from 1978 to 1980.

Arrangement Statement

The records have been divided into three series: Personal, Administrative and Library Expansion. Series I: Personal contains Thrash’s research papers while taking English courses at Salisbury State College from 1978 to 1980. Series II: Administrative contains the administrative material from 1949 to 1994. Series III: Library Expansion contains notes and lists regarding Blackwell Library’s expansion in the 1970s, as well as furniture and flooring purchases for the library
