Abstract of Record George Stayton and his father, Moses Stayton [Staton], free negro, were summonded to Orphans Court. Moses is surviving parent of said child and it is adjudged by court that George Stayton [Staton],free negro child, that it will be better for the habits & comfort of the said child to be bound out as an apprentice to some white person to learn to labour. His father has selected Isaac D. Jones as the person to whom his son should be bound & it is approved by the court. George will be 9 yo on 1 September next. George is apprenticed to Jones until 1 September 1859 when 21 yo; to learn trade of farmer; at expiration of term to receive two suits of wearing apparel, one suitable for Sundays and the other for working days.
