Abstract Information about the Enslaved Person/People | All of my personal estate (negroes excepted as soon after my death) .. When my negro boy Michael Roan, arrives at age of 24 yrs (1 March 1855) I set him free and his mother Anna, aslo - both to be hired out until the aforesaid 1 Mar 1855, the former for benefit of estate & latter (with right always choosing her home) for purpose of raisng a fund, which will enable her to leave state after 1 Mar 1855. Negro boy MIchael Roan $50 to be paid to him on 1 Mar 1855 to enable him to leave state. If Michael Roan & his mother Anna shall to avail themselves of freedom to leave the state within time allowed by law, then Michael & Anna revert to my Estate & to be divided among my legatees.
