Abstract

This is a scrapbook created by Bessie and Ray Beeson, made for their son, Donald M. Beeson, between 1922 and 1948.

Biographical History

Donald Muzzy Beeson was born on September 30, 1922. His mother, Bessie Beeson, was born in 1894 in Kansas. His father, Roy Beeson, was born in 1890 in Kansas. Their other children were Darrele Beeson and Betty Lou Beeson. In 1943, Donald Beeson was inducted into the Air Corps, and left in 1946. In 1945, he was named Lt. Donald Benson as a pilot-navigator, and he flew into Korea and Japan. While there, he saw and described the destruction of the atomic bomb in Nagasaki.  He graduated from high school in 1939, Kansas State College in 1948 and Illinois University in 1952. Donald Beeson married Frances Hunsley in 1947. 

Scope and Content Note

This scrapbook documents Donald M. Beeson's life and milestones from his birth in 1922 to 1948. It includes his weight from birth, photographs, his illnesses, his jobs, his surgeries, and other milestones throughout his life. A letter, newspaper clippings, and post cards are also included. The newspaper clippings highlight his involvement in World War II.
