The Princess Anne Rotary Club records document the clubs history from its founding in 1928 until their dissolve in 2000, with the bulk of the materials documenting their most active years from 1959-1979. The Princess Anne Rotary Club was founded in 1928 by George W. Colborn. It is one of the earliest Rotary Clubs established in the United States, under the Rotary International foundation. The club is meant to foster friendships with people from different professions, which is why only one person of a certain occupation is allowed membership at a time. The Princess Anne Rotary Club also held close relationships with surrounding rotary clubs, especially the Salisbury Rotary Club. The other aspect of a rotary club is to promote service which is why the Princess Anne Rotary Club played a vital role in helping its community. They actively raised money for students to participate in weekend programs, funded a boy scout’s campsite, bought bullet proof vests for the police, and many more service projects to help the community of Princess Anne. These community engagement programs were preformed since their founding until they dissolved in 2000.

Series I: Administrative Files, 1928-1999: The files document the administrative activities of the Princess Anne Rotary Club and include weekly meeting minutes, membership attendance and status, financial, and correspondence with the community.

Series II: Publications, 1928-2000: Publications include the Rotary Tattler weekly newsletter that was produced by and for the Princes Anne Rotary Club, local newspaper clippings, and photographs of members.

The Princess Anne Rotary Club records have been arranged into two series, ADMINISTRATIVE FILES and PUBLICATIONS. When available, folders will start and end with the Princess Anne Rotary Club’s fiscal year, ending June 30th while beginning July 1st. This does not apply to the Correspondence folders.
