This collection contains artifacts from the donor's grandfather of Talbot County, Maryland. Included is the Ulster County (NY) Gazette dated January 4, 1800 discussing the John Fries's Rebellion in Pennsylvania and a poem submitted by a young lady about the death of George Washington. Additionally, this collection contains a copy of "All That's Lovely" published in 1907, and two copies of Harpers Weekly one from 1878 and the other seems to be Civil War Era.

Mia Christine Vye was born June 5, 1952, in Washington and departed this life Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. She was predeceased by her father, Murvyn Vye Jr.; and her mother, Mary Christine McSteen Vye.

Mia graduated from Long Beach California Polytechnic High School and from Colorado College. After college, she held a number of posts in college admissions, taught high school and ultimately was executive assistant to President Thomas E. Bellavance at Salisbury University. Most recently, she had served in the capacity of administrative assistant in the department of history.

Mia had eclectic interests ranging from antiques to feng shui, Dutch painters, rock and roll music and, of course, her precious cats. She was as comfortable at the beach as she was at a Yanni concert.

The Harpers Weekly are housed in the map room. "All That is Lovely" in Small Collections. The other items were processed seperately and the only location given was Blackwell Basement and Oversized. Row 32, Unit 7, Drawer 7.
