The Travel Diaries of D.T. Mallett consists of two diaries written by Daniel Throwbridge Mallett from 1888 to 1890. The diaries detail his travels across the United States, into Canada, and down to California by train. The majority of these travels span a few months in 1888 and are contained to one journal while the other diary briefly covers his trip home and otherwise contains his poetry and some details about his daily life from 1890.

Daniel Throwbridge Mallett was born circa 1862 in New Haven, Connecticut. He was the son of Samuel and Elisabeth Mallett. He had two older siblings, Elisabeth (b. 1851) and Samuel (b. 1853).

Daniel first married Aleine R. Rowland (1865 – 1944) with whom he had two children, Samuel (1898 – 1964) and Elizabeth (1900-1999). After their divorce, Daniel got remarried in 1909 to Elsie Suydam Mallett (1873-1953). The couple had three children Margery Elsie Mallet (1910 – 1981), Margaret Elsie (1911 – 1981), and Daniel Turney Mallett (1912-1999).

Daniel died in 1944 and is buried in Bound Brook Cemetery in New Jersey.
