The ledger features detailed accounts of the group's activities from 1936 to 1938 including fundraising, bills, parties and political activities. In addition, there are two short entries from 1946 when Doris attempted to bring the club back.   

The Bradway Republican Club was an organization named for, and run by, Doris Bradway. Born on October 31, 1897 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Doris first moved to Wildwood in 1919 after graduating from Pierce Business College in Philadelphia.

Doris met her husband, Edwin T. Bradway in Wildwood where he was working as a sheet metal contractor. They had two sons, Edwin and Robert Bradway.

Doris entered the political world when she was appointed Commissioner of Finance for Wildwood. She presided over the Civil Workers Administration in 1932 and was elected Mayor of Wildwood the next year. In 1937, Doris was investigated for misappropriation of funds and a petition circulated for her resignation. Although Doris was ultimately cleared of charges, her role as mayor came to an end.

Doris and Edwin divorced, and in 1943 Doris married Fred Nathanial Wood. When that marriage ended, Doris took up the name Bradway again. She died on March 28, 1982 at the age of 84. She is buried in the First Baptist Cemetery in Cape May County, New Jersey.

The activities of the Bradway Republican Club fizzled out in 1938. Doris, going by Doris Wood at the time, attempted to revive the organization in 1946 but the group did not see the success it once had. Once boasting attendance numbers in the mid-70’s, Doris’ two recorded meetings in the 40's received only four and eight members each.
