Abstract

The records of the Salisbury University chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) document the administration and actions of the group between 2014 and 2022. Included in the collection are the constitution of the chapter, meeting minutes, planning notes, and materials from the 74th Annual Convention of the Maryland State Conference NAACP. Also included are objects such as an SU NAACP shirt and stole and a NAACP Maryland State bag.

Administrative History

The Salisbury University chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) strives to educate, stand up, and fight for the rights of all minorities and people in general.

The purpose of the NAACP is:

  • to improve the political, educational, social and economic status of minority groups.
  • to eliminate prejudice of all shapes and forms.
  • to keep the public aware of the adverse effects of discrimination.
  • to inform and educate the student body as well as the public of social injustices in contention.
  • to take all lawful action to secure its elimination consistent with the efforts of the national organization and in confromity with the articles of Incorporation of the Association, its Constitution and By-laws and as directed by the National Board of Directors.
