Biographical History

E. Homer White, Sr., (1877-1963), born to merchant King Valentine White and Virginia Tilghman White, in Powellville, Maryland, Edward Homer White grew up in Wicomico County, Maryland where he would become a leading boot and shoe merchant in Salisbury. The flagship store was located at 229 Main Street, and designed by the oversized shoe that hung outside his store. White married Lella A. Morgan (1884-1975); they had two children, Lella Morgan White Clark (1909-2002), and E. Homer White, Jr.

E. Homer White, Jr., (1911-1998), followed his father into the family business as a salesperson at E. Homer White and Company Shoes in Salisbury, Maryland. White would serve in the United States Army during World War II; post-war he became a member of the Maryland State House of Delegates (1947-1969), whereby during his tenure he became Speaker Pro Tem (1959-1969). White went on to become a member of the Maryland State Senate, serving the 36th District. White's service to the people of the Eastern Shore extended beyond politics, he was a member of the Rotary Club, and Trinity United Methodist Church. White married Rebecca Beach (1919-2012) and had two children, John Morgan White, and E. Homer White, III.
