Abstract

This collection contains a DVD of Dr. Melanie Perreault's 2009 Wilcomb Washburn Distinguished Lecture in American History titled "Servants, Slaves, and Unruly Mistresses: Interpersonal Violence in the Early Chesapeake." In celebrating Woman's History Month, Dr. Perreault examined how acts of violence both challenged and reinforced community standards in the 17th century Chesapeake.

Biographical History

A Wisconsin-native, Dr. Melanie Perreault received her B.A. from Lawrence University in 1990 and her Ph.D. from College of William and Mary in 1997. Prior to joining Salisbury University in 2000, she was a history professor at the University of Central Arkansas. In 2010, she accepted the position of Associate Provost at SU.
