Abstract

This collection, ranging from 1933 to 2005, contains scrapbooks, roll books, treasury reports and minutes of the Wicomico Garden Club spanning the years 1933 to 2005. The collection also consists of correspondence amongst members, outside vendors, and other clubs. Included are black paper ladies cut-outs and the stands to hold them up and yearbooks from 1935 to 1975.

Administrative History

Wicomico Garden Club was founded on February 11, 1933 at White Chimneys, the home of Mrs. Hunter R. Mann and the first name of the organization was the Wicko MeKee Garden Club. With a bi-monthly meeting place being the State Normal School and membership limit of 35, the organization devoted itself to beautify the city of Salisbury and Wicomico County. Their representative flower is Crepe Myrtle.
