Biographical History Marie Johnson Waller, (1911-2014), wife of J. Edward Waller, Sr., (1912-2004).
Obituary: Born on a farm in Laurel, DE, she was the daughter of the late Martin Wilson and Rose Harkins Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Edward Waller Sr., five sisters and three brothers. She is survived by three children, Rosemary and husband, James Cupp Sr. of Salisbury; J. Edward Waller Jr. and wife, Patricia of Palm Coast, FL, Robert J. Waller and wife, Katherine of Pembroke Pines, FL; brother in law, Reuben J. Waller Jr. and wife, Alice of Midlothian, VA. She is also survived by a sister Rosemary J. Hastings of Dover, De. She will be sadly missed by five grandchildren, James L. Cupp Jr. of Salisbury, Sean E.M. Cupp of Arlington, VA, Lisa W. Calhoun of Vienna, VA, Lori W. Debetaz of Flower Mound, TX and Sharon W. Green of Spring Hill, FL and their spouses. In addition, there are 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Bryan LeCompte and his family and Sean and Cassie Wilson of Outback Restaurant were also very close to her heart. Mrs. Waller was a 1930 graduate of Laurel Delaware High School and a proud member of their Alumni Association. She graduated in 1934 with a 3 year diploma in nursing from the old Peninsula General Hospital School of Nursing in Salisbury. For over 50 years, she did private duty and general duty nursing at PGH. Following her retirement from nursing, she was employed by her nephew, Martin W. Johnson III and his wife, Suzanne at their Habersham Peddler store in Salisbury. To the very end of her days, she was a loving mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was very outgoing and friendly to all and never met a stranger. Her kindness to others was returned by so many of her friends and acquaintances. We are especially grateful to her nieces and nephews, the staff at Outback restaurant and members of the Ocean Pines Pine Steppers Square Dance club for always making her feel special and loved.
