Abstract

The Henrietta Jones Moore collection documents several historical aspects of Eastern Shore history including Salisbury and Cambridge, Maryland and Cape Charles, Virginia. Documenting materials include family history, religion, education, and economic perspectives through essays, ephemera, newspaper clippings, obituaries and photographs from 1860-1998 with the bulk of the material dating from 1930-1948.

Biographical History

Henrietta Jones Moore, born in 1925, she was the daughter of Minnie Rosina Adkins and Harry L. Jones. Henrietta was named after her grandmother, Henrietta Frances Tilghman, who was the wife of Elijah Stanton Adkins, founder, and operator of E.S Adkins Company, a local lumber and milling company. She was the long-time owner of Henrietta’s Attic, an antique store located on Maryland Street in Salisbury, Maryland until it closed in April 2014.
