Abstract

The Wroten Maryland Genealogical Collection contains an essay written by William Wroten and correspondence between Patricia Wroten and those searching for genealogy. The essay that William Wroten wrote is titled "The Planting of Methodism" and discusses how local Methodism started. The rest of the collection is correspondence between Patricia Wroten, a Librarian for the Historical Society, and those trying to find genealogical information on their families.

Biographical History

Running the border between Maryland and Virginia, the Potomac River has long been a bone of contention between MD and VA, and in 2003 the United States Supreme Court decided that MD gets control of the river, but VA can use it as long as they don't infringe upon MD's use of it.

Patricia Wroten, Willaim Wroten's wife, was the librarian at the Dorchester County Historical Society, the letters in the collection are all to and from her concerning her work in the Historical Society giving people Genealogical pointers.
