Family Bible Collection

Bibles donated to the Nabb Center, whether singly or as part of a larger collection, have been integrated into this collection. A variety of print editions spanning from 18th Century to 20th century are represented, as well as various religious denominations and types of Bibles. Most of the Bibles contain hand-written notations of family history – including births, deaths, marriages and baptisms-- for several surnames beyond the title. Some may contain additional clippings or other items and some Bibles do not contain any family information. Family Bibles held by the Nabb Center and not included in this collection are also referred to in the inventory. A partial transcription of the family history pages is available upon request (full transcription will be made available online soon).

Joseph Townsend papers document the family activities of the Townsend family in Accomack County, Virginia. Documenting materials comprise of correspondence from Joseph Townsend to his daughter Mary in 1917, as well the will of James D. Baker bequeathing items and property to several Townsend family members, 1893-95.

The V.L. Skinner collection includes the genealogical research conducted by V. L. Skinner for Michael Drummond in 2012. There are family histories of the Townsend family, Hazzard family, and the Tilghman family from the Delmarva peninsula. Additionally are transcriptions of land deeds pertaining to the Hazzard family in 1811, 1816, and 1817. A transcription of the will of Atoney Heaverly from Sussex County, Delaware in 1700 is also included.

The Willis Tull papers include ephemera related to the Milbourne and Townsend familes of the Delmarva Peninsula. There is an excerpt from the 1931 text "Tidewater Maryland" which notes Ralph Milbourne, as well as scans of documents related to genealogical work done on the Milbourne and Townsend familes. There is an insert article from a magazine on George A. Townsend. Correspondence on "Crisfield, Maryland" letterhead addressed to "Myrtle" from an unknown writer is also included. There is the 1957 commencement and baccalaureate program from the State Teachers College, Towson, Maryland. Albert Richard Tull is mentioned in "Thatcham-Then and Now", 1983. Included is program from Maryland's Four Hundred Monument Rededication and Colonial Ancestors Roster, both from 1992. Finally, there is a copy of a colonial pamphlet from 1659, reprinted in 2002.
