Abstracted from Roy C. Pollitt's 1986 transcription, Somerset County, Maryland Marriage Records, 1796-1871. Note that in most cases, the date recorded reflects the date the licenses were purchased, but the actual marriages usually took place 1-5 days later. While Pollitt noted marriages of African Americans with C for "colored," the original documents identify people of color with notations of "fn" for free negroes.
