Handy filed petition marked exhibit 'A'; states that Tubman Nelson borrowed $430 from Joshua Hitch, giving said Hitch a bill of sale for his eleven negroes to insure repayment. Negroes are now increased to thirteen. At the time of loan, Joshua Hitch issued Tubman Nelson a back bond, or writing obligatory explaining said bill of sale. He has since gotten hold of said back bond by fraudulent means, and refuses to deliver to your petitioner. Tubman Nelson died 1834. In next entry, Joshua Hitch files answer stating that bill of sale for nine negroes issued 16 Mar 1832. As loan not repaid Tubman lost all claim to negroes. Other people testify about case.
