Abstract of Record On 26 December 1839, Alexander S. Jones, negro orphan boy, 12 yo on 18 September 1839 was bound out as an apprentice. The petition of said apprentice in Orphans Court decreed that the said contract of apprenticeship has been violated by the said master (? perhaps Samuel Jones) & the apprentice be released and discharged. Court determined to bind negro orphan for the residue of said term of apprenticeship to another master. Negro orphan boy, named Samuel Jones, bound to Isaac D. Jones; he to serve until 1848 when he is 21 yo. To learn trade of farmer; at expiration of term, to receive two suits of clothes, one for Sunday and the other for working days.
