Abstract of Record Jacob Jones, coloured boy 10 yo on 15 June 1842, son of Nehemiah Jones, free negro of indigent circumstances, apprenticed to Littleton Harris, with consent of Nehemiah, until 15 June 1853, when 21 yo. To learn trade of farming; to receive suit of clothes valued $8 or that amount in money at end of term. Nehemiah Jones and Henrietta Walston, the father and mother of Jacob Jones marked their"signature" on indenture.
