| Transaction Abstract | On 6 Apr 1857 Theresa Manoka, free Negro girl of indigent circumstances, was bound by Justices of Orphans' court to apprenticeship for Samuel M. Brohawn to learn trade of housewifery. Whereas an appeal from the Orphans' Court to Circuit Court, the indentures of Theresa Manoka was revoked and declared to be void. By order of Judge of Circuit Court on 6 May 1858 Browhawn was ordered to execute contract of apprenticeship for Theresa Manoka, upon same terms & conditions as the Indenture. He will take her to be apprentice until she is 18 yo, now being 14 years & 7 mos. he to supply her with suitable clothing & maintenance during apprenticeship and when free to give her 2 suits of good clothing and $5 in cash as freedom dues plus $25 in lieu of education.
