Church Service, Charges Served, Affiliated Locations, and Other Biographical Information He was freeborn, but ran away at 15 yo and enlisted on 6/7/1864 with Co. B Forty-fifth Regiment of U.S. Colored Infantry & discharged 2/24/1865. Entered Centenary Biblical Institute (Morgan College), in Baltimore, Md. Taught school & served as junior preacher. Charges; Passaic, N.J.; Laurel, Del.; Germantown, Pa.; Bridgeville, Del; Haven, Phila. Pa; also later member of Newark Conference & New York East Conference before returning to Delaware Conference & serving in Dover, Del.; Easton, Md and becoming District Superintendent of Salisbury district and later others. Settled in Moorestown, N.J. after retiring in 1916.
Family and Other Information Parents: Jesse & Diana Shockley Spouse: Annie Elizabeth Moore - 10 children: Cora Virginia, Arensy Colwell, Bessie Lynn, Caley Warren, Alphonso Ward, Elwood Gracesconde, Alfred Goodsell, Jessie Lenora, Joseph Wardell, Andrew Fowler; 5 of whom survive him. Also survived by widow & 11 grandchildren.
