Church Service, Charges Served, Affiliated Locations, and Other Biographical Information Connected with Congregational Church in her younth & for 70 years connected with this "Church of the Puritans." She & her husband were friends of Fred Douglass, Lewis Hayden, Charles C. Nell, Capt. Drayton of schooner Pearl, of anti-slavery fame & many unknown abolitionists, who aided John Brown in raising men & money for Harper's Ferry raid. Their home was frequent meeting place for those against slavery. Her son one of first to volunteer service during Civil War. Active in Women's Relief Society after war & presided over banquet at New Bedford for survivors of 54th Mass.
Family and Other Information Mother of H. A. Monroe of the Delaware Conferennce. Father: Rev. Elisah Anthony, Baptist, direct descendent of one of the colonial governors of Connectictu & per her grandmother, a pure-blooded Wampanoag Indian, that "the blood of King Phillip's family ran in her veins. Spouse: Augustus W. Moore (deceased ca 1886), a leading citizen of New Bedford. Surviving her: sister Mrs. Susan Hamblin of Frankford, Pa.; 3 children - Mrs. Shepherd, the youngest, assistant Matron at Children's Home; Frederick - Grand Maser of Masonic Fraternity in Massachusets & noted writer; Olders - Rev. Dr. Monroe of Delaware Conference. 7 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren.
