Abstract | My woman Rose to be set free at the end of the year in which I shall decease & 4 yrs later I set free slaves Bill, George, Leah, & Child & all their future increase, Mary and her future increase & Henry provided they leave the state of Va. At the same time within 12 months of their freedom. Rose may stay and serve 4 four years and be paid $12 per year & find her good clothes during that time. If my Extrs think best they shall hire them all out until they raise the sum sufficient all together to send them to Phila., Liberia or any better place. They shall not be hired if the Colonization Society of the State of Vriginia provides the means to send them away. the half of Bable which belongs to me, I am at a loss of how to dispose if he cannot obtain his entire freedom; he should have 1/4 of his hire paid to him annually and 1/4 to my estate. My wife shall take my old woman Amerita who now lives in Pocomoke & my old man Peter & they shall serve her as long as they are able to do anything & then be maintained by my wife. |
