Abstract

Loma Catherine Dryden Murray attended Salisbury State Teachers College from 1935 to 1939. The Loma Dryden Papers include her notebook that she kept for all of her classes in her senior year, as well as her diploma and class stone.

Biographical History

Loma Catherine Dryden Murray was born in Princess Anne on August 19, 1918 and was the daughter of the late Norman E. Dryden, a former Somerset County Commissioner, and Mary Ellen Reynolds Dryden.  After graduation from Washington High School in Princess Anne in 1935, she attended Salisbury State Teachers College (the first year it became a 4-year college) and graduated in 1939.

After graduation, Loma taught elementary school in Anne Arundel County for five years and then worked in Adoptions and Foster Care with the Somerset County Dept. of Social Services for 31 years. Murray passed away on January 24, 2017.

Scope and Content Note

The Loma Dryden Papers consist primary of the notebook that Dryden used for all of her courses, including handwritten notes, quizzes, exercises, class schedule, and other materials from 1938 to 1939. Also included are her diploma and class stone.
