Abstract

The World War II Propaganda and Exhibit Poster collection includes an advertisement poster, two American propaganda posters used during World War II and a 33 poster exhibit entitled "The World in Flames: WWII" that feature documents and photographs from the National Archives.

Scope and Content Note

The World War II Propaganda and Exhibit Poster collection documents the use of World War II artifacts in modern day culture. The collection includes an advertisement poster for "From Rosie to Roosevelt: A Film History of Americans in World War II” which is from a film series created and distributed by the National Video Resources and the American Library Association. Also included are two reprinted American propaganda posters engcouraging young men to join the Navy and women to become a Woman Ordanance Worker, or WOW. The bulk of this collection is a thirty-three poster exhibit entitled "The World in Flames: WWII." The exhibit features panels on: women at war, the Grand Alliance, the holocaust, u-boats and convoys, intelligence and espionage, prisoners of war, the American homefront, the Battle of Britain, origins of WWII, Operation Barbarosa, North Africa, Italy, air and naval warfare, Operation Overlord, Battle of the Bulge, American victory and aftermath, Japan and the Pacific front, island hopping, Guadalcanal and Bougainville, and the attack on Pearl Harbor.
