The Bill Satterfield collection documents life in the United States from circa 1783 to 1905 and as a soldier in World War II from 1943 to 1945, although the collection dates from 1783 to 1945. This collection includes foreign currency, bonds from various railroad companies, correspondence between friends and family members, receipts of purchasing powder, a church report, a witness record for Seaborn Goodall, a labor agreement between Samuel Wayde and Nathan Lapstein, return of compensation of land to William Nathan Harper, a blank account book, two copies of The Church Quarterly Lesson Leaflet for Middle and Senior Grades, a 1906 almanac, an U.S. Army worship bulletin, a 1943 map of Naples, Italy, and The Story of the Corps of Military Police.

The Bill Satterfield collection documents life in the United States from 1783 to 1885 and as a soldier in World War II from 1943-1945, although the entire collection dates from 1783 to 1945.  This collection consists of various materials not directly linked to each other.  It includes: an agreement between Samuel Wayde and Nathan Lapstein, who consented to help Wayde build a water operated mill on his land in Dobbs County, North Carolina; a witness record for Seaborn Goodall, a Clerk of the County in Georgia, affirming that Alexander Hendeny was qualified for the position of Justice of the Peace, in addition to noting the names of Roger M. Kinney as Justice of the Court and John and Howell Best as the attorneys presiding over the estate of George Williams; a church report detailing subscription sales for "the support of the Gospel;" a receipt of Thomas Churchill's debt payment to Stephen Harrington in Snow Hill; a receipt of Howell Best's purchase of powder from John Miller; correspondence about military life to Mr. and Mrs. William C. Churchill from their son, Thomas B. Churchill, a soldier stationed at Fort Moultrie, South Carolina, Sullivan's Island at the beginning of the Mexican-American War; another letter from Thomas Churchill to William C. Churchill while Thomas is stationed in Tampico, Mexico about military life, General Winfield Scott, and the surrounding country at the end of the Mexican-American War; bonds from: the Orange and Alexandria Rail Road Company, the Virginia and Tennessee Railroad Company, the Petersburg Railroad Company, and the City of Albany; international currency from Japan, Italy, and Germany; correspondence to Joshua and Mary from H. and M. Hollingsworth of Attola County, Mississippi about soldiers starving at Vicksburg four months before the end of the Civil War; correspondence from Priscillar Best in Nashville, Georgia to Elizabeth Beth regarding her inheritance and a religious dispute between the "hard shell Baptists" and the Missionaries; correspondence to Charlotte about everyday life in Broad Creek, North Carolina and South Carolina; a United States letter sheet; a military appointment for Solomon B. Fahrestock to Clerk Class #1000; and the return of land compensation to William Nathan Harper from the Dobbs County Court.  In addition, relating to the early 20th century, there is a blank account book from 1904, "The Church Quarterly Lesson Leaflet for Middle and Senior Grades which contains bible readings and religious discussion, and a 1906 almanac.  Lastly, relating to World War II, this collection contains a bulletin from a U.S. Army religious service, a 1943 map of Naples, Italy, and The Story of the Corps of Military Police.  The World War II materials were carried by Bill Satterfield's father during his military campaign in North Africa and Southern Europe during the war.
