Abstract

The photographs of Fred L. Felger's Barber Shop Group document a group that worked with Fred L. Felger in Youngstown, Ohio circa 1920-1930. The three black and white photographs portray the six men in the "gang," the men's wives and daughters, and Fred Felger standing on his head.

Biographical History

Fred Louis Felger was born on January 17, 1882 in Newark, New Jersey to Otto and Caroline Felger.  He married Emma Lugier and was registered for the draft of World War I. He was employed as a barber most of his life and died on November 11, 1944 at age 62 from Hodgkins disease.

The photographs of Fred L. Felger's Barber Shop Group document a group that worked and sang with Fred L. Felger in Youngstown, Ohio circa 1920-1930.  The three black and white photographs portray the six men in the "gang," the men's wives and daughters, and Fred Felger standing on his head.
