Abstract

Series of maps and images relating to Pirate's Wharf, located along the Wicomico River near Quantico and Whitehaven, Maryland. The materials document the development of the property into a natural resource park and its history, 2015.

Administrative History

Commonly known as Pirate's Wharf, the farm, originally known as the William K. Leatherbury farm, is seated on the Wicomico River, with a two-story gable-fronted home and 350 acres near Whitehaven. The property also features two family cemeteries. At one time, there was a large commercial-scale wharf on the property, and represents one of the deepest natural channels in the Wicomico River. Currently, the property is owned by the Wicomico County government and is being slated for natural development that includes a park and sports complex.
