Abstract

Records of the Republican Women of Worcester County document the organization’s activities including administrative and community-oriented activities from their inception in 1984-2012 with the bulk of material dating from 1998-2007. The social group’s community-based platform is collectively documented through generated meeting minutes, financial records, and membership lists as well as scrapbooks and photographs.

Administrative History

Founded on July 16, 1984, the Republican Women of Worcester County (RWWC) was formed as a branch of the Maryland Federation of Republican Women and the National Federation of Republican Women, offering the women of Worcester County the opportunity to unite and play an active role in the Republican Party. Nineteen women joined the effort at the first meeting and membership continues to grow at present day. Members of the organization assemble regularly and hold functions to promote Republican candidates and legislation lobbying as well as participate in community activities such as Valentines for Vets and Flag Day and hold fundraisers to promote their organization from within.

Scope and Content Note

Series I: Administrative Files, 1984-2009, documents the administrative activities of the organization including by-laws, meeting minutes, financial responsibilities and membership information.

Series II: Organizational Files, 1989-2007, documents the community and participatory events sponsored by the RWWC.

Series III: Visual Materials, 1984-2012, documents the organizational activities through photographs and scrapbooks.

The Republican Women of Worcester County records have been arranged into three series, ADMINISTRATIVE FILES, ORGANIZATIONAL ACTIVITIES, and VISUAL MATERIALS.

Folders are listed by their location in each box; any given subject may be dispersed throughout the entirety of the collection.
