Abstract

Keystone View Company Stereopticon collection documents scenes from countries around the world from 1900-1935. Stereopticon cards document scenes such as the Great Sphinx, castles in Germany, and street scenes in the United States as well as natural wonders such as the Matterhorn, the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park.

Administrative History

The Keystone View Company was located in Meadville, Pennsylvania and in operation from 1892 to 1972.  Founded by B.L. Singley, the Keystone View Company became the world’s largest producer of stereographs by 1905. The Keystone View Company produced stereo views and cards that were sold in sets housed in slipcases that resembled books as well as wood cases
